Join us for an 8-week study and discussion series on the writings of the New Testament: specifically: James, Peter, John and Jude.
Weekly on Wednesdays beginning September 24 at 7:30pm, in person and online
Did you know that besides the gospels and the letters of Paul, there are a number of other writings in the New Testament? Some are letters and some are writings of wisdom, warning and counsel. All have to do with how to live as persons and within communities in precarious, threatening and uncertain times. How do we cultivate resilience and strength without losing our gentleness and compassion? How do we honour our human vulnerability without capitulating to fear and mistrust but opening our heart to deeper kinds of loving of ourselves and discerning love of others? How do we address injustices within society without hardening our hearts? How do we become genuine servants of the risen Christ in body, mind and spirit in the midst of personal suffering?
Our sessions will focus on the following:
A Manual of Wise Instruction, Part 1 – James 1-2
A Manual of Wise Instruction, Part 2 – James 3-5
How to live in a Hostile World – 1 Peter
How to handle the Crisis in the church – 2 Peter
The Basis of Christian Fellowship – 1 John 1-2
Fellowship in the Family of God – 1 John 3-5
Two Personal Letters from John – 2 John, 3 John
The Book of Jude – Jude
Join us Wednesday evenings, 7:30pm, online and in person, beginning September 24.
