Youth Ministry

Our youth programming takes an intentional four-fold focus:  Worship, Service/Mission, Fellowship, Study.  In order to most effectively minister with and to the youth in our church family, we believe in striving for a

balance of these four aspects of faith development.

Jr. High Group
The Junior Youth Group is for youth in Grade 7-9.  The group gathers together approximately twice each month. (There are also other opportunities for this age group to engage in throughout each month.   There is a Jr. High Retreat in November & June of each year.  Check the weekly announcements for meeting dates and activities.

Sr. High Group
The Sr. Youth Group is for youth Grade 10-12.  We meet regularly.  This year our focus surrounds an upcoming mission trip to the East Coast.  We also participate in an annual retreat each fall.  Sr. High Youth are encouraged to participate in worship & family communion on a regular basis.  We also have the opportunity to participate in outreach and mission throughout the year. Check the weekly announcements for meeting dates and activities.

Youth in the Pit
Youth Grade 10-12 meet during the regular Church School time to pray together and engage in discussions about faith and life.  This year we are exploring how to put our faith into action.  We are discovering more about the good news of God’s love & are being challenged to respond to this love in our daily lives.

Confirmation Classes
Confirmation classes are held every 2 years.  Confirmation is a year long process designed to help guide youth who are thinking of becoming members of the church. Youth are paired with mentors as they explore what the Christian faith means to them.

University Students
Many of our students attend university a distance away from us.  The congregation sends letters and care packages throughout the year in order to stay in touch and express our care.  Please make sure we have your son/daughter’s current mailing address.

    Portland Place
-Several times each year we celebrate and share with the people of Portland Place. Through Karaoke, BBQs, Christmas Parties, flower garden planting and more, we share in the lives of our inner city brothers and sisters.

    Evangel Hall
-Once or twice each year we have the opportunity to prepare and serve dinner at Evangel Hall, providing dinner for 80-100 people. It is a wonderful time of blessing for all involved.

    Yonge Street Mission
-In 2012 we have the opportunity to share in YSM's Saturday Breakfast program. We are looking forward to cooking breakfast and hanging out with the children who attend their Saturday ministry.

    Prayer Shawls
-Our Prayer Shawl ministry team provides prayer shawls for those who are ill, new babies, university students, confirmation participants, and more. It is a wonderful blessing for both those who create and those who receive these meaningful shawls.

    Senior's Lunch
-Each month we provide lunch and a speaker for Seniors who live in our community. We invite speakers to share insights on relevant health issues, particularly for seniors.

    Parent and Tot
-Every Monday morning (with the exception of long weekends and summer) from 9:30am-11am we provide a time of drop-in play and community for Parents and their little ones in our neighbourhood. It is a friendly, open, caring environment in which friendships are nurtured.

    Christmas
-We share in many outreach ministries during the Advent and Christmas Season including:
-Mitten Tree: Each year we collect mittens, hats, and scarves for people living in Toronto
-Christmas Angels: We help new refugee families celebrate their first Christmas in Canada with warm clothes, food, and some special gifts.
-YSM Shoeboxes: Families load up shoeboxes filled with toys for innercity children living in Toronto.
