Family Ministry

Armour Heights is dedicated to helping families nurture faith at home. We do so by providing a variety of seasonal resources throughout the Christian year, sending out emails and newsletters with practical ideas for families to try, and we provide an annual TLC Workshop, including seminars on Nurturing Faith at Home. We also continue to focus on building our family library, with resources available for children, youth and parents alike.
Library
We have a growing Family Library with resources for Children, Youth, Parents, Families & Church School Leaders. It is located in the Scott Duncan Hall by the windows. Feel free to sign out books, CDs, & DVDs any time!
Special Events
Fall Family Night and Spring Fling: For both of these events parents & children are invited to come together on a Saturday afternoon. For the first half of the program adults are led in a discussion regarding an aspect of parenting while children engage in crafts, games, and other age-appropriate faith-based activities. After the formal program all ages come together for an always yummy pot-luck supper.
Advent Potluck, Crafts & Music Night: Similar to the Fall Family Night and Spring Fling, but all ages participate in the same program.
Christmas Party: Each year after the Children’s Christmas Pageant dress rehearsal, we celebrate with our annual Christmas Party!
Christmas Carolling: Each year all ages are invited to tour around the neighbourhood singing carols. Afterward everyone heads back to the church for hot chocolate and cookies! Usually the last Sunday before Christmas.
Pancake Supper: Every year on Shrove Tuesday (the day before Lent begins — usually in February) all ages are invited to come and enjoy loads of Pancakes and Sausages! After Supper there is a short program especially geared toward children. Always fun for all ages!
Church School Picnic: Mid-June we celebrate the year by thanking the Church School leaders and then enjoying a Church School Picnic after worship. There are games, face painting, lots of food, etc. All ages are welcome!
