Armour Heights is dedicated to helping families nurture faith at home. We do so by providing a variety of seasonal resources throughout the Christian year, sending out emails and newsletters with practical ideas for families to try, and we provide an annual TLC Workshop, including seminars on Nurturing Faith at Home. We also continue to focus on building our family library, with resources available for children, youth and parents alike.
We have a growing Family Library with resources for Children, Youth, Parents, Families & Church School Leaders. It is located in the Scott Duncan Hall by the windows. Feel free to sign out books, CDs, & DVDs any time!
Fall Family Night and Spring Fling: For both of these events parents & children are invited to come together on a Saturday afternoon. For the first half of the program adults are led in a discussion regarding an aspect of parenting while children engage in crafts, games, and other age-appropriate faith-based activities. After the formal program all ages come together for an always yummy pot-luck supper.
Advent Potluck, Crafts & Music Night: Similar to the Fall Family Night and Spring Fling, but all ages participate in the same program.
Christmas Party: Each year after the Children’s Christmas Pageant dress rehearsal, we celebrate with our annual Christmas Party!
Christmas Carolling: Each year all ages are invited to tour around the neighbourhood singing carols. Afterward everyone heads back to the church for hot chocolate and cookies! Usually the last Sunday before Christmas.
Pancake Supper: Every year on Shrove Tuesday (the day before Lent begins — usually in February) all ages are invited to come and enjoy loads of Pancakes and Sausages! After Supper there is a short program especially geared toward children. Always fun for all ages!
Church School Picnic: Mid-June we celebrate the year by thanking the Church School leaders and then enjoying a Church School Picnic after worship. There are games, face painting, lots of food, etc. All ages are welcome!
Our youth programming takes an intentional four-fold focus: Worship, Service/Mission, Fellowship, Study. In order to most effectively minister with and to the youth in our church family, we believe in striving for a
balance of these four aspects of faith development.
Jr. High Group

There is a Jr. High Retreat in November & June of each year. Check the weekly announcements for meeting dates and activities.
Sr. High Group
The Sr. Youth Group is for youth Grade 9-12. We meet regularly. This year our focus surrounds an upcoming mission trip to the East Coast. We also participate in an annual retreat each fall. Sr. High Youth are encouraged to participate in worship & family communion on a regular basis. We also have the opportunity to participate in outreach and mission throughout the year. Check the weekly announcements for meeting dates and activities.
Confirmation classes are held every 2 years. Confirmation is a year long process designed to help guide youth who are thinking of becoming members of the church. Youth are paired with mentors as they explore what the Christian faith means to them.
Many of our students attend university a distance away from us. The congregation sends letters and care packages throughout the year in order to stay in touch and express our care. Please make sure we have your son/daughter’s current mailing address.
Children’s Ministry is a growing and active place where children can begin to experience what faith in Jesus is all about. Come down for a visit this Sunday and stay for some fun.
Many young families have found a home at Armour Heights, and we invite you to share with us, too. Our Nursery & Toddler room is a warm and welcoming place, and we would love the opportunity to care for your little one.
Each week begins with a welcoming large group time for S/K-Grade 6, where we gather to learn, celebrate, and worship God. The children then join their teachers in small groups to explore what faith in Jesus can mean in their lives.
There is always something exciting going on in Children’s Church at Armour Heights. Whether it’s drama, music, discussion, games, or crafts, our children are always engaged in age-appropriate activities as they grow their faith through experiential worship.
Nursery – Our nursery staff lovingly await your arrival! Babies 0-2, are welcome to stay with us throughout the worship service. We sing, play & hear stories each week in a brightly-coloured, beautifully decorated room.
The children’s church program continues throughout the summer months in a modified form called One Room Children’s Church. There are stories and a number of activities to engage children at a variety of age and interest levels!
Please note: One Room Church School is not held on holiday Sundays.
The purpose of the health ministry program is to help individuals stay well and to create a feeling of deeper caring throughout the church community.
The Health Ministry presents a creative new way for our church to provide a holistic ministry to the community and our congregation. Our goal is to staff medical professionals to work as ministers of health. In this way our congregation can play an increasingly important role in keeping people spiritually and physically healthy and offer leadership in the field of preventative medicine.
“…..and He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” (Luke 9:2) Jesus sent the disciples out to preach, teach and heal. Jesus healed the whole person: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. WHAT IS HEALTH MINISTRY? Health Ministry is designed to reclaim the church’s role in a holistic approach to health. Our response to the modern and often fragmented medical model of care is to offer and environment of learning and healing where the entire person is nurtured in an atmosphere of community and fellowship which puts God in the center of life and health.
